About BPL 2025

The 2025 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), officially known as the Dutch-Bangla Bank BPL T20 2025 due to sponsorship, is the eleventh season of Bangladesh's premier Twenty20 cricket league. Organized by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the tournament commenced on December 30, 2024, and will conclude on February 7, 2025

Teams and Key Players:

This season features seven teams:

  • Chittagong Kings: Captain Mohammad Mithun; Coach Shaun Tait.

  • Dhaka Capitals: Captain Thisara Perera; Coach Khaled Mahmud.

  • Durbar Rajshahi: Captain Anamul Haque; Coach Ijaz Ahmed.

  • Fortune Barishal: Captain Tamim Iqbal; Coach Mizanur Rahman Babul.

  • Khulna Tigers: Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz; Coach Talha Jubair.

  • Rangpur Riders: Captain Nurul Hasan Sohan; Coach Mickey Arthur.

  • Sylhet Strikers: Captain Ariful Haque; Coach Mahmud Emon.

Notably, the Chittagong Kings have returned to the league, while the Comilla Victorians are absent this season.

Matches are being held across three venues:

  • Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka: Hosting 22 matches.

  • Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong: Hosting 12 matches.

  • Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Sylhet: Hosting 12 matches.

     

    Tournament Format:

    The BPL 2025 follows a double round-robin format, where each team plays the others twice, followed by playoffs leading to the final.

  • Most Runs: Anamul Haque (Durbar Rajshahi) – 146 runs in 3 matches.

  • Most Wickets: Taskin Ahmed (Durbar Rajshahi) – 12 wickets in 3 matches.


    Cultural Significance:

    This season's theme, "Esho Desh Bodlai, Prithibi Bodlai" ("Come, Let's Change the Country, Change the World"), reflects the spirit of recent socio-political movements in Bangladesh. The theme song, "Elo BPL," composed by Muza and featuring Raef al Hasan Rafa and rapper Hannan Hossain Shimul, includes lyrics contributed by Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus. The mascot, "Dana 36," is a peace-loving pigeon symbolizing change and resilience
